About Class IV
Class 4 deepens every subject without changing the pattern children know: EVS explores food, shelter, water, and travel in more detail, maths moves into fractions, factors, and larger numbers, and language lessons grow longer and more expressive. Exams begin to carry real weight this year, so it is worth building the habit of revising a chapter a week after first reading it. NCERT exercises here are excellent practice because school tests usually follow them closely.
Study tips
- Solve every in-text and end-of-chapter maths problem — then solve them again a week later.
- Make short notes for EVS chapters: one line per heading is enough.
- Read poems aloud twice; rhythm makes memorisation far easier.
